Halfway Through Chemo!

Holly underwent her fourth chemo treatment on Monday marking the halfway point in chemotherapy as well as a change in her chemo drugs for the next treatments. To this point she's been on a mixture of two medications administered over the course of an hour and a half. The next phase will be a single chemo drug administered over about three hours, with an hour of prep beforehand. It's a good thing she's got an iPad!
The side effects of the current drugs have been accumulating over the treatments. Initially she took about five days to get past the fatigue and nausea, last treatment it lingered for about eight days. The next drug seems to be a little lighter on the side effects, hopefully Holly will notice that as she gets into the next phase of treatment.
She also had a follow up CT scan on Tuesday, this was to re-check the spots found on her lungs as well as check on her lymph nodes. During the CT scan prior to surgery in March the spots were noticed and marked for follow up by the surgeon, they were too small to biopsy so the doctors wanted to keep an eye on them to ensure they haven‘t grown since the first scan. We'll have follow up appointments with the surgeon and oncologist to review those results in the next few weeks.
She's happy to be at the halfway mark and really looking forward to getting through the chemo and onto the next steps. Thanks everyone for the support and well wishes, they are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Holly and Dan! Being in the thick of the woods can feel so overwhelming, but hopefully the trees will continue to thin and you'll be out the other end soon, and able to focus on healing. Love from Tim, Grace and I!
